A dog vs. lizard staredown for the ages just unfolded in my courtyard. It lasted a good 2-3 minutes, with neither dog nor lizard making even the slightest move, until finally lizard made a break for it, racing down the side of a chair and into the flower bed before dog could lay mouth or paw on it. I wish you could have seen it. It was quite entertaining.

This is a plaque that hangs on the wall at my gym. I was curious about the life of Joe Radosta, apparent gin rummy master, so I did some digging around. I discovered that he died in 2011 at the age of 85, having worked for Xerox most of his adult life after serving in the Pacific during WWII. His obit discussed his love of food (“Joseph was a Foodie, and loved a good time and a good meal. He was the penultimate food critic, expecting the best and lived his live accordingly.”) but there was absolutely no mention of gin rummy. (at New Orleans Athletic Club)
