When this guy’s obit ran on the Times Picayune website the other night, it described him as a “French Quarter bon vivant” in the headline and I really thought that a death notice for a New Orleanian couldn’t possibly get any better than that. But then I saw the print version of the obit, complete with an accompanying photo of our boy with a cigar in his mouth, in addition to a headline touting his “great Quarter parties,” which just served to make the whole thing even better. Well done Jack Gurry…a life definitely well-lived.
